Yarona FM News – eBotho and EU Mission in Botswana to Launch CyberSmartBW Challenge
EBotho in conjunction with the EU mission in Botswana will today launch a campaign on cyber security. The initiative, known as CyberSmartBW, is a challenge that aims to raise awareness among young people on safe and secure online habits.
The initiative is funded by the EU and Cyber4Dev project with the support of local partners such as BOCRA, BNYC and Change Africa organization.
Speaking to Yarona FM on the eve of the launch, campaign Coordinator David Moepeng says, the CyberSmartBW Challenge will run throughout the month of October – a period also used to commemorate Cybersecurity Awareness Month.
This will sensitize the public about cyber threats and encourage people on safe and secure cyber habits.
Moepeng says part of the awareness campaign will be a competition in which young people are encouraged to learn about internet safety and then create recorded statements, videos or social media banners expressing how they stay safe online.
They will then to submit their creations to enter the competition where they will stand a chance to win prizes.
